Edd Rousch

Edd Rousch was a excellent hitter, batting over .300 eleven years in a row. He used one of the heaviest bats around at 48 ounces.

Rousch used to hold out every year until a week before the season started. "Why should I go down there and fuss around in spring training? Twist an ankle, or break a leg. I did my own spring training, hunting quail and rabbits around Oakland City", said Rousch.

Rousch was originally signed by the Chicago White Sox in 1913 but was then optioned to the minors after a month. He finished the year in the minor but instead of staying with them for the following season, jumped to Indianapolis of the Federal League. Indianapolis offered him $225/month, almost double what he was being getting in the minors.

Rousch was enshrined into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 162.
